Yes, yes, yes! Ohh my gosh, are you "The Emilia Castillo"? I have admired Emilia's Castillo work for so long! I got this necklace about ten years ago in Mexico and love it, I have plates and bottle openers of Emilia Castillo, my guest room bathroom sink is Emilia Castillo, but had never seen jewelry, when I saw the frog necklace I fell in love with it. I now live in Houston and a friend saw it and loved it, so I took it off and gave it to her. I am so unbelievably happy! Thank you so so so much!
As an artist, you may like to know a little about to whom the ring is going. When my daughter, Emily, was a little girl she found a peacock feather and called herself “Emmy Peacock.” That remains her nickname, and I am buying the ring as a graduation gift for her. She will be graduating with a pharmacy degree May 17th. Your work and your website are beautiful. Thank you!
By the way, I saw this piece of yours and have to tell you just how beautiful it is in its natural simplicity and selective detail. I will share three good quotes that it brings to mind. Shakespeare - “Art is a mirror held up to nature”. Two quotes from Hans Hofmann - “The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak”. and “An idea can only be materialized with the help of a medium of expression, the inherent qualities of which must be surely sensed and understood in order to become the carrier of an idea”. I am by no means an art critic or all that knowledgeable about art – just someone who appreciates it - but to me, this piece surely reflects all three of these quotes. Best, G
